NEFI Statement On The Coronavirus

March 9th, 2020 - 2:57 pm

Coronavirus cases are appearing throughout the United States and could soon become numerous. I am writing to update you on how NEFI is responding and where you can find information and resources for businesses and employers. The health and safety of our members and their employees and customers is our top priority. NEFI will evaluate whether changes are appropriate for upcoming meetings and events on a case-by-case basis. We will send separate emails if cancellation, postponement, or a change in format (such as to an online format with Zoom meetings or teleconference, for example) is deemed necessary.

The 2020 HEAT Show is scheduled for September 21-23 in Providence, Rhode Island. This event is still more than six months away and planning continues unabated. We fully expect it will be held and welcome your support. Visit www.heatshow.com to register for the show, sign-up to be an exhibitor, or pledge a sponsorship.

We recommend that our members closely follow updates from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), including advisories and guidance for businesses and employees. The CDC has published interim guidance on how businesses can plan and prepare for the coronavirus and respond to potential outbreaks (online here). The CDC last published this document on February 27, 2020 and it will likely be updated as the situation evolves. NEFI members are also advised to monitor updates and follow guidance from state and local authorities, particularly in communities where outbreaks have occurred.

Stay tuned for future communications from NEFI or your state and local industry associations. We will also publish any important updates in our weekly newsletter, NEON, which is published on Tuesday mornings.

NEFI remains committed to your success and wellbeing, now and in the future. Let us know if there is anything we can do to help. My contact information is below.

With Warm Regards,

Sean Cota
