GPS NORTH AMERICA
Describe your GPS solution for fleets:
GPS North America has a proprietary
device for fleet tracking that we manufac-
ture, called “the smart antenna.” The entire
device is the size of a credit card and is
completely tamperproof. It has no external
antenna or power cord that can be discon-
nected from the device. We are one of the
few companies that offers scalable hardware
that for a small investment can do standard
fleet tracking, but provide our customers
an option to add on additional equipment
which can connect to the smart antenna.
Our software is all web-based, and we do
offer route optimiza-
tion for all our cus-
tomers as part of our
standard package.
Advantages of using GPS in fuel delivery:
The most obvious answer is that at any
given moment someone in the office can see
the progress of the deliveries, what has been
completed, what is in transit, and what is
left to be done, without having to call and
ask each individual driver. Having that
information at a moment’s notice improves
customer service by being able to give
answers quickly to customers looking for
delivery status.
‘Hidden’ Benefits of GPS routing:
One of the hidden benefits to using
GPS routing in your operation is employee
satisfaction. Drivers hate to get lost or waste
time not knowing where they’re going,
and by having the GPS route the vehicle,
employees are less likely to be frustrated on
the job.
GPS-based routing and
restricted roadways:
There are commercial off-the-shelf
products that will navigate vehicles based
upon their height and weight restriction.
Garmin offers three models, the 460 5T, the
dezl 560, and the diesel 760, all of which
offer truck attributes to help the navigation.
There are two setup screens on these units
to enter height, weight, width, and all the
information needed to route the drivers.
There are also custom navigation programs
that can be loaded onto Windows-based
terminals that also support Hours Of Service
Electronic Driver Logs (EOBR). Our system
integrates with all the Garmin Models,
and the Mobile Data Terminal, where a
dispatcher can send an individual job or an
entire route to the driver in addition to also
doing two-way messaging.
NEXTRAQ
Describe your GPS solution for fleets:
The NexTraq
®
GPS Fleet Tracking
solution is the most comprehensive in
the telematics industry. More than just
fleet tracking, our solution provides easy-
to-use dispatching, scheduling and routing
functionality all within an easy-to-use
interface. Our dispatching application
gives drivers voice-guided, turn-by-turn
directions, and our sched-
uling feature is as simple
as dragging and dropping
a job onto a calendar. Additionally, our
ClearPath routing functionality enables
dispatchers or fleet managers to create
the most efficient routes with a click of
a button. When talking about equipment
needed for onboarding, whether it’s
vehicles or assets, we’ve got you covered.
We have vehicle tracking devices that can
be hard-wired into a vehicle as well as
plug-and-play devices. For many of our oil
and gas customers, tracking assets such as
fuel tank and trailers is just as important as
knowing where their vehicles are and all of
our asset trackers are intrinsically safe.
Advantages of using GPS in fuel delivery:
The most obvious advantages of a
GPS fleet tracking solution are reducing
overhead costs, such as fuel and mainte-
nance, while increasing revenue. For most
service and distribution companies, fuel is
the number one expense that presents a
consistent challenge. And while you can’t
control gas prices, GPS fleet tracking solu-
tions provide tools such
as the Idle Report and
Alert as well as the Speed
Report to identify wasteful practices.
Once a company using a GPS fleet tracking
solution finds out what is costing them
in fuel, they can take proactive measures
to stop it with up to a 20 percent reduc-
tion. A GPS solution can also automate a
company’s maintenance schedule so that
no sudden breakdowns decrease your
productivity. In fact, most companies see
an overall fleet productivity level increase
of 50 percent or more. Regular maintenance
scheduling and reporting also prolongs
the life of vehicles and increases the
remarket value.
