There is a new tool available to help
drivers find biodiesel and other alterna-
tive fuel stations. The U.S. Department of
Energy recently launched the Alternative
Fueling Station Locator app developed by
the National Renewable Energy Laboratory.
The new mobile app provides information
on more than 15,000 fueling stations across
the country.
Users can search for stations that offer
biodiesel (B20), electricity, natural gas
(compressed and liquefied), ethanol (E85),
hydrogen, and propane. The app is available
for the iPhone and iPad at no cost from the
Apple App Store.
After the user selects a fuel, the app
maps the stations closest to his or her
current location. It includes the stations’
addresses, phone numbers, and operating
hours. The app is a mobile version of the
Alternative Fueling Station Locator website
– one of 15 tools designed to reduce the use
of petroleum in transportation available on
the Department’s Alternative Fuels Data
Center. NBB’s mobile app, BiodieselNow,
is another tool available to consumers who
are looking for biodiesel fueling sites, want
to stay up-to-date on the latest biodiesel
news, and log their biodiesel usage along
the way.
