Bergquist, Inc.
recently announced
its offering of Cavagna
Group’s new Kosan+ Guardian dielectric
second-stage regulators. The residential
regulators, designed specifically for the U.S.
market with input from Bergquist and retail
propane marketers, are the first to incorpo-
rate dielectric capability and regulator as an
all-in-one solution.
In accordance with NFPA 58 - 6.9.3.16,
the Kosan+ Guardian is intended to isolate
potential electrical power from metallic
piping before entering a building. The use
of a separate dielectric union is not neces-
sary since the regulator contains a dielectric
flange as part of its assembly. With the
dielectric flange, electric insulation exists
between the upstream and downstream
parts of installation.
“Cavagna brings its many decades of
R&D, engineering and manufacturing
expertise to the development of the first
regulator of its kind. A combined dielec-
tric/second-stage regulator also has less
potential for leaks than current, standard
installations where metallic piping is used,”
says Don Heller, Bergquist’s Vice President
of Propane Technologies. “We’re excited
to offer our customers the new Kosan+
Guardian regulator from Cavagna. It’s
another terrific example of innovative solu-
tions we’ve committed to bringing to the
U.S. propane market.”
The Kosan+ Guardian is available
in a variety of sizes. Compact, full-size
straight-through, full-size angle, full-size
back mount, 2 PSI compact, 2 PSI straight-
through, and 2 PSI back-mount configura-
tions are available. BTU capacities range
from 700,000 to 1.6 million. All regulators
have been tested for lock-up, relief and
leakage failures.

Crown Boiler recently announced the
launch of OC Panel. Available for use
with Crown’s Aruba 4 and Freeport 2
boilers, the OC Panel system is designed
to simplify the installation, operation,
and service of the entire boiler system and
save energy. The OC Panel is launching
with three plug-in OC Panel Cards to
Products
control different boiler functions. These
cards simply plug into the panel, while
the panel itself is easily installed on the
AWR or FWZ boiler, both of which are
already compatible. The AWR OC Panel
snaps into the front of the boiler above the
standard control, while the FWZ OC Panel
sits on top of the boiler with a cover over it
making it look like part of the boiler.
The three cards that will launch with the
OC Panel provide functionality for Outdoor
Air Reset, Low Water Cutoff, and High
Limit Reset. Here’s what each card will do:

boiler’s heat delivery rate to match the
home’s heat demand and heat loss by
adjusting the supply water based on the
air temperature outside and domestic
hot water demands. To function, the
Outdoor Air Reset Card just needs to
be plugged into the OC Panel and only
requires outside air temperature and
domestic hot water demand sensors.

manual reset is available, and detects
the absence of water in a heating system
by using patented signal processing to
identify when the probe signal levels
have decreased. If detected to be at an
unsafe level, the Low Water Cutoff will
shut off the burner. The auto reset card
will reset when water levels are back
to a safe level, while the manual reset
card requires user intervention. The
card can just be plugged into the panel,
and just requires probe installation and
prefabricated probe wire connection to
become operational.
