and future supply needs. They offer flex-
ibility and can be a pathway for increased
profits if used wisely.
NEW INFORMATION PLATFORM
So, what’s this talk about what tanks
mean to you? More than you might imagine.
If you can remain patient before you begin
to open your tanks to begin your seasonal
inspections you will soon have access to a
state-of-the-art information platform called
Biodiesel e2e
.
The e2e stands for end to end. The
National Biodiesel Board has authorized
an investment in helping terminals and
port management personnel gain access to
an exhaustive compilation of information
that was designed to help this link of the
supply chain operate more efficiently and
cost effective.
Biodiesel e2e is an end-to-end supply
chain management app for shipping, han-
dling and distribution. It will offer a visual
interactive online portal, video presenta-
tions, equipment guidelines, dispensing
and blending information and much more.
The e2e online information portal is the
one-stop online tool to access everything
you need to know about biodiesel handling
and distribution. The engaging and inter-
active interface makes it easy to find the
information you need, and breaks it down
into simple technical language for folks at
all levels of the supply chain. The digital
interface maps out the typical ports, termi-
nals and depots associated with biodiesel.
Each hotspot will lead you into informative
and engaging content including videos
and online presentations. Imagine all the
advanced biodiesel information you ever
wanted or needed at your fingertips.
QUARTERLY NEWSLETTER
Complementing e2e will be the release
of the
Ask Ben
quarterly newsletter. This
publication will be designed to provide
up-to-date information, ideas and solutions
for all levels of the supply chain. It will be
introduced starting in June 2013 to augment
Ask Ben
, the online biodiesel/Bioheat ques-
tion and answer tool. Each quarterly issue
will highlight key biodiesel industry topics,
technical, legislative, production, markets
and more. The newsletter will be delivered
for your convenience as an interactive PDF
file in your email, so you can read it online

at your desktop, tablet or phone, or print it
out to take it with you.
The combination of these two tools
will absolutely help improve your storage,
blending and distribution experiences
beyond biodiesel, as it covers countless
liquid fuel issues as well.
Numerous phone inquiries from ter-
minal operators throughout New England
and the Mid-Atlantic looking for guidance
on best practices come into the National
Biodiesel Board on a daily basis. The
question most often handled is, “How do
I begin to prepare my physical assets to
store, blend and ship biodiesel into the
mainstream?” The RFS is the driver, RINS
the persuader.
Before you step into this end of the
business it would be highly advisable to
pause and reflect on the fundamentals of
preparing your facility as well as determine
the pathway to successfully market these
new improved fuels like Bioheat
®
and vari-
able blends of biodiesel for use in trucks
up to 20 percent. If those tanks could talk
they would be telling you to look at them
not just as a vessel to store liquid but as an
integral part of growing your business.
