Mission: Strengthen and advance the market for liquid heating fuels through innovation, policy, education, and advocacy.

Vision: Working for our members, and in collaboration with our state partner associations, NEFI is committed to being a powerful voice for the industry, a center for exploring issues and developing strategies, and a resource for industry education at all levels.

Since 1942, NEFI has been a leading voice for wholesale and retail distributors of liquid heating fuels in New England and throughout the Northeast. NEFI members are mostly small, family-owned and operated businesses that deliver heating oil, propane and renewable fuels such as Bioheat® to millions of American homes. These dedicated home comfort providers often develop close relationships with their customers and local communities, and are recognized leaders in energy efficiency, conservation and safety.

Since its inception, NEFI has been a fierce advocate for the home heating industry, pressing their case before policymakers in the region and in Washington, DC. In 2006, NEFI expanded its Government Relations program by creating the “Legislative & Regulatory Action Center” (LRAC), an in-house lobby shop that is tasked with advancing the industry’s public policy agenda, organizing grassroots efforts and providing members with up-to-the-minute developments in the nation’s capital. NEFI opened an office in Washington, DC in 2009 and relocated its legislative staff to better advance this vital mission.

NEFI is a full-service member benefits 501(c)(6) trade association that offers annual trade shows, business conferences and networking events, assistance in compliance with federal rules and regulations, a drug and alcohol testing program, weather alerts, and insurance. We publish a premier industry magazine, Oil & Energy, and a weekly e-mail newsletter with the latest developments from around the region, the industry and the nation’s capital. Through the 501(c)(3) NEFI Education Foundation, Inc. (EFI) we offer educational opportunities to advance the executive and professional development of our members.
