Northeast Heating Fuel Deliveries Now Fully Covered Under Hours of Service Waivers

CT, MA & NY Issue HOS Relief for Intrastate Transport

NEFI has learned that several Northeast states have issued Emergency Declarations waiving or extending daily and weekly hours of service rules for intrastate transport of residential heating fuel, i.e., regular heating fuel deliveries. Intrastate hours of service waivers or extensions have been issued in Connecticut, Massachusetts and New York.

The entire Northeast region is now covered for both intrastate and interstate transport of heating fuel. NEFI would like to acknowledge and thank our partnered associations for their hard work securing the intrastate waivers.

Please note: on January 11, the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) expanded its existing Regional Emergency Declaration to include Massachusetts along with the rest of the Northeast states, which were already covered under this waiver.

Drivers transporting home heating fuel within the state of Connecticut, Massachusetts or New York (intrastate) are encouraged to keep the relevant state-issued hours of service waiver in the cab of their truck at all times. Drivers transporting heating fuel in the other Northeast states (intrastate) or between multiple states (interstate) are encouraged to keep copies of the Regional Emergency Declaration in their cab at all times.
