Admin  -   09:00 am  -   January 28th, 2025

The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) extended the Regional Declaration of Emergency covering the transportation of heating fuels with the addition of motor fuels in 39 other states through February 15, 2025. Access the new waiver here to keep in your vehicles.

Last week, after surveying its membership, NEFI asked the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration to expand the Emergency Declaration granting driver hours of service relief due to the severe winter weather in the northeastern United States that was to expire at 11:59 p.m. on January 31. Citing increased demand due to the weather and ongoing delays at various loading terminals, NEFI requested an extension of the hours of service relief through 11:59 p.m. on Saturday, February 15. In addition, NEFI asked to include deliveries of gasoline and diesel fuel in the regulatory relief.

We are pleased to note that FMCSA incorporated our request to expand the scope of the HOS waiver. The new waiver covers drivers in Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Mississippi, Montana, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia, Wisconsin, and Wyoming.
