The National Energy & Fuels Institute (NEFI) is pleased to announce Liam Dotson as its new Manager of Government Affairs. Liam brings a diverse background in advocacy, legislative analysis, and political action committee (PAC) management and compliance, along with valuable experience as a former small business owner.
Liam previously served as Compliance Associate at Multistate Associates, where he conducted research on federal legislation, supported the firm's political consulting work, and ensured compliance across a diverse range of industries. His expertise in legislative tracking, risk analysis, and strategic communications proved instrumental as he successfully collaborated with cross-functional teams, drafted detailed reports, and engaged with stakeholders to align initiatives with a broad range of public policy goals.
He later served as Co-Owner and Business Manager of a small arts and illustration business, which deepened his understanding of the legal, financial, and operational challenges facing American small business owners and entrepreneurs. Through this experience, Liam developed a passionate commitment to advocating for policies that maintain the competitive viability of Main Street businesses.
In his role at NEFI, Liam will apply his skills and experience to develop and implement strategies in support of the association's national policy agenda. He will also leverage his previous experience to help grow and effectively manage the organization's federal PAC.
"On behalf of all our members and association partners, I am very excited to welcome Liam to the NEFI team. I believe he will play an important role in our critical mission in Washington, DC, and beyond," said NEFI President & CEO Jim Collura. "He is an extremely talented individual with an extraordinary work ethic, and I believe he will make a lasting contribution to this organization and our industry."
Outside of his professional career, Liam is an avid martial artist, takes Japanese language classes, and is teaching himself guitar. He currently resides in Springfield, Virginia, and will work out of NEFI’s Washington, DC office. Liam can be reached at liam.dotson@nefi.com.
