There is a strong chance that President Trump will propose zeroing out the federal Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) program, as he did during his first administration. Thanks to the advocacy of NEFI and its members, and our state association and coalition partners, Congress rejected this proposal last time. Both Democrats and Republicans from cold weather states understand the importance of this program to low-income families, veterans, and disabled and elderly Americans - but they need to hear from you.
NEFI is joining with the National Energy & Utility Affordability Coalition (NEUAC) in support for LIHEAP funding for Fiscal Years 2025 and 2026, and are circulating an "all parties letter" to be delivered to Capitol Hill on LIHEAP Action Day, March 4, 2025.
All organizations and businesses that support fuel assistance are encouraged to sign on the letter by clicking here.
