FMCSA Emergency Declaration For Driver Hours Of Service Relief Set To Expire On January 15

Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration

The Emergency Declaration issued by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration extending the Hours‑of‑Service (HOS) waiver is expiring January 15, 2026. It had been issued for the following states:

Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Ohio, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Tennessee, and Wisconsin.

Additionally, several states have issued related HOS waivers. Maine, New York, and Vermont have waivers also expiring on January 15, 2026. Other recent state waivers that have already expired are as follows: Connecticut, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Rhode Island.
