Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy has announced a pro-truck driver package of initiatives to reduce regulatory burdens and improve options for drivers. Among the initiatives is withdrawal of the advance notice of proposed rulemaking that would have established a requirement to use speed limiting devices with the speed limit set at a designated miles per hour.

The notice also states FMCSA will eliminate over 1,800 words from federal regulations, which the agency claims generated nearly 25,000 unnecessary violations in 2024.

Secretary Duffy also announced initiatives to study methods to revise the hours of service regulations via a pilot program pilot to allow participating drivers to pause their 14-hour on-duty period for a period of no less than 30 minutes and no more than 3 hours.
