The Environmental Protection Agency has launched a webpage claiming that the agency’s deregulatory efforts have resulted in $1.6 trillion in savings for the U.S. economy in the Trump Administration.
These efforts include rescinding the 2009 Greenhouse Gas Endangerment Finding, all greenhouse gas emission requirements on vehicles that followed, and all off-cycle credits (including the federal start-stop feature incentive for manufacturers to make vehicle engines die at every red light and stop sign). EPA estimates these actions produced over $1.3 trillion in savings to business and consumers, including $2,400 per vehicle.
Also, EPA cites repeal of most of the prior administration's greenhouse gas emission requirements for power plants, resulting in $310 billion in savings.
The release also notes the repeal of California’s Advanced Clean Trucks and NOx rules under the Congressional Review Act, and repeal of heavy-duty engine derates (loss of power) when diesel exhaust fluids run out or the sensors stop working.
