The Small Business Transportation Coalition, an association of motor carriers, has filed a Petition for Review of the FMCSA’s final rule imposing a 20% increase in the Unified Carrier Registration fees for the 2027 registration year.

The group argued that the underlying UCR System Plan and Agreement was never lawfully established through proper federal rulemaking as mandated by the federal UCR Act of 2007.

Additionally, the suit seeks review of the agency’s denial of a petition requesting relief in the form of data privacy enforcement and protection for motor carriers and other registrants in the aftermath of a data breach.
