On the cusp of a new heating season, and with market conditions likely to remain challenging, NEFI has revised its members-only “DOs and DON'Ts Guidance” for customer and media relations that was developed in the spring. The updated version can be accessed on the member section of the NEFI website.

The new Guidance document includes context on what is driving prices and practical suggestions that your service team can use immediately. We know each of your businesses is unique and it is not our place to tell you how to run it. That said, feel free to share it with your staff and use whatever is helpful to you.

Two requests of our retail members as we head into the winter:

  • If a reporter calls: take a message and let your state association know before you respond. They can tell you what other companies are being asked and help you prepare. Coverage like this can travel quickly, and a single story can shape how the public perceives our industry.

  • If you run into any supply problems, such as allocation at a terminal, a rack you cannot get loaded at, or anything else unusual, alert NEFI and your state association right away. Allocation at a terminal, a rack you cannot get loaded at, or anything else unusual. Details on what you are seeing in the field helps us advocate for government relief or remediation to resolve any issues that may arise.

If you need help developing customer-facing communications tailored to your business, reach out and we can connect you with marketing professionals in our industry. If there is anything else we can do to support you, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

Our industry has weathered storms like this before. We will get through this one together.
