The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration has approved a fee increase for the Unified Carrier Registration Plan. The new fees will go into effect for the 2027 registration year beginning October 1, 2026.
The UCR fees are registration fees that participating states collect from motor carriers, motor private carriers of property, brokers, freight forwarders, and leasing companies. They are required to be used for motor carrier safety enforcement and related activities at the state level.
The fee increase for the 2027 registration year averages 20 percent higher than the fees in effect in 2025 and 2026, with varying increases ranging between $9 and $9,329 per entity, depending on the applicable fee bracket. But they are still less than those in effect during registration years 2019 through 2022.
